I'm an avid collector of brilliant images that will one day provide inspiration for a painting.  This is based on a photo by Bobby Hughes, of a night-time lightning storm off the Ayrshire coast of Scotland.  I loved the way he captured the grasses and picnic bench in the foreground being lit up by the lightning - a split second moment in time that I have tried to preserve in this painting.
