Killintringan Bay, just north of Portpatrick in Dumfries and Galloway, is one of my favourite spots for a beach stomp.  Frequent visitors in April, we've paddled, picnicked and played on that beach while other years we've trudged through snowdrifts to get there.  It's usually deserted, and always a restorative for the soul.
